Friends of the Elderly Charity

Friends of the Elderly is a charity I volunteer for once a week and then I also go on day trips with them usually once a month or once every two months.

The photos below are from 2 different day trips, one in Newry and the other in Wexford.

I go into the Friends of the Elderly Offices on Bolton Street every Tuesday and ring elderly folk around the country who may be feeling low as a result of loneliness and I have a friendly chat with them and make sure they're okay.

It's incredibly gratifying work.

The people that work there are amazing and really inspiring. So too, the elderly folk themselves...

Go and volunteer at some charity and you'll reap the benefits and so will those you help!

Or if you can't physically go to volunteer, donate HERE

Hello ALL! My friend Aoife Flood, who works for Price Waterhouse Coopers, is writing this blog on pregnancies- tough pregnancies to be more precise! Trying to raise awareness so people know how unbelievably hard it can be and so that other mothers don't think they're on their own! She's amazing! Have a read of it and she is open to anyone wanting to contribute their own experiences!!

Good-bye Alf and thank you!!!

Very sad to hear of the passing of Alfred (Alf) McCormack.

Alf and his friend Freddie were two gentlemen printers at the National Print Museum and were the first people I met at the museum who encouraged me to research and make the film PROCLAIM!

They also said they would get me access to the museum- and they did!

Alf and Freddie were there on the day of the shoot and made sure the printing press worked for us and aloowed us to film as it printed off several proclamations.

They also did us the massive favour of being in it.

They are the two gentlemen printers who take up the work of continuing to print after Christopher Brady leaves to bring more proclamations to the GPO and the streets and walls of Dublin City.

Alf also knew William O'Brien, one of the original printers of the proclamation (played by Brian Murphy), so it was perfectly fitting that he play the printer who took up the baton of continuing to print proclamations.

Alf is a beautifully warm & gentle soul with a cracking sense of humour & he will be missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Rest in eternal peace Alf
